The practical answer
Royal Pacific is a practical Express-hotel benchmark; Portofino Bay is worth comparing when larger rooms and time at the hotel matter. The included Express parks are identical, so any premium needs another reason.
| Compare | Loews Royal Pacific Resort | Loews Portofino Bay Hotel |
|---|---|---|
| Reviewed room | Standard — 2 Queen Beds 335 sq ft | Garden View — 2 Queen Beds 450 sq ft |
| Capacity | Up to 5; confirm fifth bed and fee | Up to 5; confirm fifth bed and fee |
| Included Express | Studios + Islands only | Studios + Islands only |

| Self-parking | $36 per vehicle/night + tax | $36 per vehicle/night + tax |
Start with how much hotel time you have
For long park days with short room stops, collect Royal Pacific’s quote first and compare the total. For a vacation with slow mornings, afternoon breaks or time to unpack, Portofino’s larger listed entry-level room may solve a real problem.
Our recommendation is conditional: choose the lower all-in quote when the room meets your needs and you have little time to enjoy the hotel. Consider paying for space when the group will use that space each day.
Standard room space is the clear distinction
Royal Pacific lists its standard two-queen room at 335 square feet. Portofino lists its garden-view two-queen room at 450. That is 115 additional square feet in the published categories, not a second bedroom.
Both list a maximum of five. A fifth guest can require a rollaway; obtain confirmation and include its cost. If separate sleeping rooms are essential, compare actual suite or connecting configurations rather than applying the standard room’s capacity to the whole hotel.
Same eligible Express, different reason to upgrade
Both include Express Unlimited at participating attractions in Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. Epic Universe and Volcano Bay are excluded. A more expensive Portofino room does not widen the park coverage.
Compare the hotel premium against the value of space and your preferred setting, not against the same Express benefit twice. This avoids crediting one side for a benefit both already supply.
A quote comparison that stays fair
Use identical travel dates and guests. Compare cancellation rules, included taxes and bed charges. Do not compare a refundable garden-view quote at one hotel with a restrictive special rate at the other without valuing that difference.
If Portofino costs a hypothetical $80 more per night for four nights, its additional hotel cost is $320 before any excluded taxes or fees. Ask whether that extra space is worth $320 to your group. This is an illustration, not a current rate.
Our practical next step
Read the Royal Pacific guide and Portofino Bay guide, then use the calculator with both real quotes. If neither fits the room arrangement you need, revisit the family room guide.
